So, you've just gone under the knife. Now what?
Ensuring an effective rehabilitation strategy post-op is a critical component of recovery. At North Curl Curl Physiotherapy, we are able to assist in the speed of recovery for patients prior to and have undergone surgical procedures. Commonly after surgery, swelling is present, pain is significant and varied, joints stiffen through limited or eliminated mobility, and muscles become weak and tight through diminished use and muscle health. Without a rehab strategy, these common and normal effects experienced post surgery can become more chronic and debilitating and can often result in a relapse to injury.
In the very least, physiotherapy can help to decrease the swelling and pain, with the use of compression pumps, ice and bandages. Manual therapy can improve the range in the joints. Exercise programmes are developed to help return strength to the muscle and joint.
Prior to surgery, rehabilitation can also be provided to ensure optimal strength and range of motion that is decreased after surgery. It is our goal to ensure that a you return to work, sport and lifestyle as quickly as possible post surgery through the treatment provided at NCCP. If you have surgery planned or have just undergone a procedure it would help to talk to a physiotherapist about the potential to increase recovery speed and ensure you return to full mobility and activity as soon as possible.
